Vengaya pulithanni

Spicy tamarind curry


  • 1 Tamarind, lemon size, soaked in water and pulp extracted
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • Curry Leaves few
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Sambar Powder
  • Salt To taste


  1. Heat oil. Splutter mustard seed, curry leaves and onions till onions are light brown.
  2. Add tamarind extract, salt and sambar powder. Bring to boil.
  3. Adjust consistency with cup of water and taste by adding salt.
  4. Serve Vengaya pulithanni with hot rice.
