Shahi paneer recipe
Cottage cheese cooked in gravy of nuts and spices
Ingredients
- 2 Bay leaves
- Cilantro, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Cardamom powder
- 3 tablespoons Rose water
- Salt as per taste
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 2 teaspoons Coriander Powder
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1 inch Cinnamon, stick
- 2 Cloves
- 500 grams Paneer, diced
- 3 Green chilies, finely minced
- Ginger, inch long
- 4 cloves Garlic
- 1 large Onions, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup yogurt
- 1/2 cup Cream
- 1/4 cup watermelon seeds
- 1/2 cup Cashewnews
Instructions
- Heat oil. Roast whole spices - Bay leaves, cloves , cinnamon stick. Saute for a minute.
- Add onion, ginger, garlic and green chillies. Saute. Cook till onions are translucent.
- Add soaked cashew and watermelon seeds. Saute for 20 secs.
- Add spice powders - turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala and salt. Mix well.
- Add about cup of water and cook for 15 minutes.
- Remove whole spices and blend to paste.
- Heat oil. Fry the paste till oil separates. Add yogurt, cream, cardamom powder, rose water. Mix well.
- Add paneer and stir. Simmer for 5 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve shahi paneer hot with roti.
