Odisha Chaat

Quick popular snack combined with mixed flavors

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Yellow Peas, soaked for 6-7 hrs
  • 1/2 cup carrots, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped cucumber
  • 1/2 cup chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 4 green chillis, choipped
  • 2 medium size tomatoes- chopped
  • 2 potatoes, boiled, pealed and cubed
  • Some fried snacks as fillers (Papdi, sev, nimki, roasted peanuts)
  • 1 tablespoon Grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon black salt
  • 2 tablespoons Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • salt as per the taste
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Chat masala
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mint-coriander chutney
  • Curd, whisked with little sugar
  • Sweet tamarind chutney

Instructions

  1. Heat oil. Fry onions till soft. Add ginger, green chilli, and tomatoes. Cook till tomatoes are tender.
  2. Add boiled peas, turmeric powder, chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, black salt, amchur powder/ chat masala. Mix well.
  3. Add potatoes. Adjust taste with salt and lemon juice. Mix well.
  4. Serve along with chopped vegetables, fried snacks, tomato ketchup, tamarind chutney, mint coriander chutney and curd.
  5. Mix well and enjoy Odisha Chaat.
