Spicy starfruit pickle


  • 4 cups Star fruit, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Mustard dal
  • 2 tablespoons Kashmiri chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafetida
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice or Vinegar


  1. Combine starfruit with salt and keep aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add asafetida and mustard dal. Saute till lightly brown.
  3. Add chili powder and turmeric powder. Turn off the flame and add star fruit. Mix well.
  4. Add lemon juice or vinegar and mix well.
  5. Store Karamali loncha in a sterile air tight container.
