Awran Jo Murrabo
Awran Jo Murrabo is a very popular dish amongst Sindhis. Healthy and nutritious gooseberries are cooked in a sweet sugar syrup until the syrup is golden honey like. It is a powerhouse of nutrients and is a great accompaniment to any meal.

Ingredients
- 15 Indian gooseberries / amla
- 1 teaspoon Alum
- 2 liters Water, for cooking amla
- 1 liter Water, for sugar syrup
- 2 Bay leaves
- 5 Black peppercorns
- 4 Green Cardamom
- 2 small pinches Saffron, soaked in 2 tsp of water
Instructions
- Dissolve Alum in water and soak the berries for 12 hours.
- Drain, rinse well and prick each gooseberry with a fork.
- Boil gooseberries in water for 8-10 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
- Make sugar syrup by heating sugar with water, bay leaves, cardamom and peppercorns
- Add drained gooseberries and cook for around 20-25 minutes.
- Add saffron soaked in water, cook for a minute or so.
- Allow the conserve to cool and store it in a sterilized jar.
- Enjoy Awran Jo Murrabo for breakfast or with any meal.
