Pacha Manga Rasam

Spicy and tangy soup made with raw mango

Ingredients

  • 1 Raw mango, cut into small pieces
  • 1 Tomato
  • 2 teaspoons Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 Dried red chilli, broken
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida
  • Salt to taste
  • Few Curry leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper corns
  • 5 Garlic cloves
  • 1/2 inch Ginger, chopped
  • 1 Tamarind, lemon sized
  • Jaggery, A small piece
  • 3 Green chillies
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • Coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Puree raw mango and tomato.
  2. Grind pepper corns, cumin seeds, garlic cloves, green chilli, and ginger into a coarse paste.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, red chilly and curry leaves.
  4. Add the ground paste and sauté well.
  5. Add turmeric powder, asafetida, red chilli powder along with the mango and tomato puree.
  6. Adjust taste with tamarind paste, salt, jaggery and boil for about 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves.
  8. Serve Pacha manga rasam hot.
