Karkadaka Puzhukku
Karkadaka puzhukku is a traditional Kerala dish prepared during the monsoon season. It is a spicy medley of root vegetables like yam, taro root and tapioca.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Yam, cubed
- 1/2 cup Taro, cubed
- 1/2 cup Taro stem, cubed
- 1/4 cup Tapioca, cubed
- 1 Raw Plantain, cubed
- 8 Shallots, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Chilli powder
- 3 Green chilli
- 2 Dried red chilli
- Few Curry leaves
- 2 tablespoons Coconut oil
- 1/4 teaspoon Mustard seeds
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Pressure cook vegetables with salt, turmeric,chilli powder and little water for 2 whistles.
- Heat coconut oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
- Add dried red chilli, shallots, green chillies and curry leaves. Sauté well.
- Add cooked vegetables and mix well. Cook for a few minutes.
- Serve Karkadaka Kanji hot with kanji (rice porridge) and pappad.
