Pudachi Vadi

Fried snack stuffed with green cilantro and poppy seeds mixture


For Stuffing

  • 4 cups Cilantro, finely chopped
  • 3 Green chillies, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Poppy seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Tumeric powder
  • Salt to taste

For cover

  • 2 cups Bengal gram flour / Besan
  • 1/2 cup Regular Atta
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seed powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Tumeric powder
  • Salt to taste


  1. Knead besan, atta, cumin seed powder, salt and turmeric powder with little water into soft dough. Allow to rest.
  2. Heat oil. Splutter cuming seeds and green chillies. Stir fry chopped cilantro. Cover and cook till they are cooked.
  3. Add poppy seeds, mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and keep aside.
  4. Roll round flatbread from piece of dough. Place mixture in centre and roll. Seal edges.
  5. Deep fry till golden brown on all sides.
  6. Serve Pudachi Vadi hot with ketchup.
