Mulaku Chammanthi

Spicy chutney made with onion and red chilly powder


  • 1 small Onion, finely sliced
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Red chilly powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoons Vinegar
  • Few Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil


  1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  2. Add curry leaves, onion and salt. Saute until onion turns golden brown.
  3. Remove from heat and add chilly powder, turmeric powder, vinegar and hot water. Mix well.
  4. Serve Mulaku chammanthi with dosa/idli
