Gooror payash

Jaggery rice pudding to celebrate happy occassions


  • 1/2 cup basmati rice, washed and soaked in water for 10-15 minutes
  • 1 liter milk
  • 25 grams jaggery
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 cup Cashew nuts, almonds, rasins


  1. Boil and then simmer milk for 10 minutes.
  2. Add rice, bay leaves and jaggery. Stir till jaggery is dissolved.
  3. Simmer and stir till rice is cooked.
  4. Add nuts and continue to cook for 5-10 minutes till and rice absorbs milk completely.
  5. Discard bay leaves and serve Gooror payash
