Unleavened puffed bread from Ladakh


  • Wheat (Paqphey)/Barley flour (narjen)
  • Salt
  • Pul / Soda


  1. Dough is similar to that of chapatti or roti or Tagi Shrabmo (as called in Ladakhi).
  2. Rounds are thicker and smaller in shape. The bread is unleavened.
  3. Briefly cooked over iron plate but then cooked in ashes of wood stove and allowed to puff.
