Ou Tengar chutney

Side dish made from elephant apple / Chulta.

The fruit of elephant apple has strong antidiabetic, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingredients

  • Ou Tenga / Elephant apple
  • Jaggery
  • Panch Phuron ( 5 spices)
  • Turmeric Powder
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. Grind Ou Tenga or cut into small pieces.
  2. Season with hot oil and fried panch phuron and little turmeric
  3. Adjust taste with salt and jaggery. Mix well.

    Assamese traditional foods are really the sign of Assamese culture. Being an Assamese I have some very special experience of eating these foods. So I think with the change with modernity these should not be extinct from our societies and thank you for writing such a beautiful article and make us feel special.
